Geary County received an allocation of funds from the CARES Act as part of the State’s allocation. This disbursement was distributed through the Strengthening People and Revitalizing Kansas (SPARK) program to cover costs associated with Covid-19. After required reimbursements were dispersed, the commission was able to set aside $50,000 for small business assistance to help with reimbursement of costs incurred due to Covid-19. Covid-19 has placed incredible strain on businesses throughout Geary County. The results of regional employment loss, restrictions on social interactions, and disruptions to supportive services focused on mental health, job training, food distribution, and sheltering has impacted the entire county. The Small Business SPARK Grant Program’s purpose is to help support businesses within the county with addressing this critical need during the public health emergency. In order to address the needs of the Geary County community and how it has been impacted by the Covid-19 public health crisis, Geary County is accepting applications and will award funds to eligible businesses to cover Covid-19 expenses. The total amount of funds available is $50,000 and the maximum grant amount per business will be $3,000.
